Some topics are not permitted to be discussed in the public forum; for example, any
topic related to an employee or that can be implied to be related to an employee; special
education placements, individual student situations, etc. If the topic is inappropriate for the
public forum, the Board president will instruct you not to speak, but rather, present your
concerns in writing for the Board’s discussion in Executive Session.

The chair will recognize the individual or group. Individuals must identify themselves with
name and address. The board will allocate a maximum of thirty (30) minutes for this agenda
item. Speakers shall have a maximum of five (5) minutes each. In the event more than six (6)
persons wish to address the board, they will each receive a proportionate share of the time.

            F.1       2013-14 BUDGET PRESENTATION

                        Superintendent Steven A. Achramovitch will present the recommended 2013-14

                        budget to the Board for adoption.

 

                        RECOMMENDED MOTION:  “that the proposed 2013-14 budget in the

                        amount of $60,250,600 be adopted and presented to the voters of the

                        Hamburg Central School District in one proposition on May 21, 2013 as

                        follows:

 

                        PROPOSITION #1 BUDGET

                        “Shall the Board of Education of the Hamburg Central School District be

                        authorized to expend the sums set forth in the proposed 2013-2014 budget in

                        the total amount of  $60,250,600 and levy the necessary tax?”

G.        CONSENSUS ITEMS

One motion may approve all "G" items.  If a board member wishes to discuss a particular item,

            RECOMMENDED MOTION:  “that the Board of Education of the

                                    Hamburg Central School District approves the adoption of the

                                    textbook AP Edition Campbell Biology in Focus, 1st Edition, for

                                    AP Biology for the high school, Authors: Urry, Cain, Wasserman,

                                    Minorsky, Jackson, Reece.”

 

                        G.3.b   HIGH SCHOOL WEIGHT ROOM EQUIPMENT DONATION

RECOMMENDED MOTION: “that the Board of Education hereby accepts
the donation from
Phil Ryan of two (2) pieces of weight room equipment for
the high school weight room with an approximate total value of $2,900.00."

                                    RECOMMENDED MOTION: “that the Board of Education hereby declares

that twenty-two (2007) Nortel 5520 POE 48 port switches, as surplus and
authorizes the disposal of said equipment.”

                                    RECOMMENDED MOTION:  “that approval is given to the

                                    March 7, 2013 low recommended bids per the attached as follows:

                        RECOMMENDEDMOTION: “that approval is given to the following

                        Resolution: 

 

                        RESOLVED, that upon the recommendation of the Superintendent

                        of Schools, the Hamburg Central School District Board of Education adopts

                        the BOCES Administrative Budget for 2013-14 as presented at $3,137,076.”

            H.7      2013-2014 PROPERTY TAX REPORT CARD

 

H.8      SICK LEAVE DONATION

RECOMMENDED MOTION:  “that the Board of Education recognizes and
approves that, upon written request of an employee and approval of the
Superintendent of Schools, a Hamburg Central School District employee may
donate a portion of his/her individual accumulated sick leave days up to
Sixty-One (61) days to Laurie Texido, a teacher, who has exhausted her
accumulated sick leave, according to the sick leave conversion work sheets that
provide for the fair and proportionate transfer of sick leave days between and
among Hamburg Central School District employees.”

 

H.9      FIVE-YEAR TRANSPORTATION CONTRACT EXTENSION

RECOMMENDED MOTION:  “that the Board of Education of the Hamburg
Central School District approves of the following resolution:

 

WHEREAS, the District desires to extend the present contract (as most recently
extended) for transportation with Fisher Moving & Storage Inc., it is:

 

RESOLVED, that the Superintendent of Schools of the Hamburg Central School
District (or his designee) enter into an agreement with Fisher Moving & Storage, Inc.
extending the present contract (as previously extended) as follows:

           

For the school year 2013-14 through and including the 2017-18 school year, the
previously extended rate multiplied by the increase in the regional consumer price
index as provided by the State Education Department for the 12 month period ending
on May 31, immediately preceding the commencement of the contract extension, not
to exceed 3% over the prior year.

 

All A.M./P.M. in district runs, Potter Road A.M. and shuttles, Pre-Kindergarten, Field
trips and Athletic trips shall be covered by this agreement. 

            H.10    RESOLUTION – RECOGNIZING BARGAINING UNIT  

 

RECOMMENDED MOTION: 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Hamburg Central School
District, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby recognizes,
pursuant to the provisions of Civil Service Law Section 206, SEIU Local 200 United
as the sole and exclusive bargaining representative for its employees in the bargaining
unit set forth below:


Included:  All full-time and regular part-time employees including Food Service Helpers,
Cook Managers, Cooks, Food Service Managers and Servers.

 

Excluded:  The Director of Food Service and any and all managers, supervisors,
confidential employees and guards.

           

 

            H.11     RESOLUTION– APPOINTMENT OF IMPARTIAL HEARING OFFICER

RECOMMENDED MOTION:  “that the Board of Education hereby appoints
Michael Lazan to serve as an Impartial Hearing Officer in an Impartial Due Process
Hearing initiated on behalf of a student with a disability."

 

           H.12     BID - High School Roofing Project

RECOMMENDED MOTION:  “that approval is given to the Letter of
Recommendation of Gordon W. Jones Associates, Architects, on the Senior
High School Roofing Reconstruction work bid awarded to Progressive Roofing, Inc.
held on April 11, 2013, totaling $2,274,000.00."
