Hamburg Central School District

The Hamburg Bulldogs athletic program continued its tradition of excellence during the 2015-2016 Winter sports season.  Below we have the highlights for each of the 'Dogs winter teams.
BOYS BASKETBALL- The boys team weathered a storm of injuries to key players but did advance to the Section 6 Class A1 semi-final at Buffalo State.  Despite losing to eventual champion Williamsville South, the Dogs, under Coach Brueckl, finished the season strong and were led by Seniors Ryan Dils, Sean Delellis and Brendan Ryan.
GIRLS BASKETBALL - The Lady Dogs also advanced to the Section 6 Class A1 semi-final at Kenmore West before bowing out to Williamsville East in a tight contest.  Hamburg was led by Senior All ECIC selection Anna Chiacchia who was consistently outstanding throughout the season.  With only 2 Seniors, the future looks bright for the Dogs as we will return starters Katie Villarini, Jane Chiacchia, Heather Haberman and Maggie Vesneske for Coach Owens team for next season.
BOWLING - Coach Dan Darnley's team made monumental strides this season as the Boys team won several matches and qualified for the Section 6 Championship.  Though the Girls did not qualify for the Sectional, all the girls will return for next season.
BOYS ICE HOCKEY - The Ice Dogs under Coach McFall had another successful season.  Competing in WNY's top league the Dogs advanced to the Federation semi-final game.  The team was led by senior stars Jason Lucarelli and Josh Dake, both of whom were named to the Federation All Star team.
GIRLS ICE HOCKEY - The girls team, which is combined with West Seneca Central Schools, made history by recording the first ever win in girls ice hockey.  With the team only losing Senior Jade Hoch to graduation the future is bright for our team.
INDOOR TRACK - What a winter for the Hamburg Indoor Track team.  Senior distance star Peter Rindfuss advanced to the NYS meet in both the 1600 and 3200, Ethan Reimondo qualified in both the Hurdles and High Jump and Aaron Wojnicki made the state standard in the Pole Vault.  Molly Kabza(600) and Paige Thurnherr(Pole Vault) narrowly missed qualifying.  Personal bests were abundant throughout the season which bodes well for the Dogs as we move to the outdoor season.  Great job again by Coach Malican, Coach Fortuna and Coach Vella.  State Meet update-Ethan Reimondo 7th place High Jump, Aaron Wojnicki personal best in Pole Vault but did not place, Peter Rindfuss -injured and did not run-he'll be ready for the outdoor states.
BOYS SWIMMING - Monumental and Historic are the only ways to describe the 2016 Boys Swimming team.  The team set pool records in a myriad of events and are poised to compete in the NYS Championship meet on March 4th and 5th.  Section 6, ECIC and school record holders include Michael Maurer, Luke Kennedy, Cody Wittmeyer and Kyle Griffin.  Great Day to be a Bulldog for Coach Godios and the team.
