Parents, Mrs. Lango has sent out several email messages this year. If you have not received any of her messages please do the following: Look in your junk mail and mark the email as safe. If you do not any messages in your junk mail, email the district registration office at firstname.lastname@example.org and ask them to fix your email link. It is very important that we have your updated information as this is the school's primary communication tool, along with our web site. Thank you for your help as we try to keep our school community informed.

June 12, 2017 Dear Parents, Welcome to June! This is a busy time in school, so it is important that all of our families have what they need as we prepare for the end of the school year. June has a lot of great activities and we want to be sure that you are well informed. Please check your child’s backpack daily for grade level updates as well as our web page. Here are a few of our school-wide activities: Wednesday, June 14th: Flag Day/Field Day Monday, June 19th: Early dismissal 11:30 Tuesday, June 20st : Summer Reading Kick Off Assembly; Early dismissal 11:30 Wednesday, June 21st : Early dismissal 11:30 Thursday, June 22nd : Level 5 Promotional Assembly; Last Day for Student Attendance Over the summer we encourage you to have your children maintain a routine of reading and reviewing math facts. Web sites, such as Raz Kids and IXL Math, are engaging and your children are familiar with them. As we have done the last few years, we are continuing with our Scholastic Reading Summer Challenge. Please check your child’s backpack the last week of school. They will have their pass codes they can use to log in their summer reading minutes. Last year we read a total of 68,658 and the year before we read 56,256 minutes. Let’s keep this trend growing and read, read, read and remember to log in minutes. Over the summer children tend to lose some of what they have learned and working a little each day over the summer will decrease the summer slide. Whatever method of review you choose will help your child be successful in the new school year. Many parents ask about class placements. As we have done in the past, letters will go out in mid- August. Class placements are carefully organized and reviewed. It is the goal of the committee to create classrooms that are balanced and thoughtful of individual student needs. From everyone at CAS, we hope you have a wonderful fun-filled summer. September will be here before you know it, so enjoy your time with your children and create la
PLEASE NOTE: the Village of Hamburg has issued a new traffic regulation to support a safer environment around the Charlotte Ave School. Starting immediately there are no left turns allowed into the drop off/pick up driveway.
Attention all Pre- K Parents: The doors for PreK are only open at the following times: 9:00 and 11:30 for AM PreK, 12:30 and 3:00 for PM Prek Since we are not able to open our doors earlier than the listed times we are recommending that you stay in your cars as close to the times listed. We do not want to have anyone standing out in the elements any longer than they have to. Thank you for your cooperation. Parents who are picking up at 11:30: Please note that the cone at the end of the driveway is put out once the PreK students begin to board the buses around 11:30. It is illegal to pass busses with their lights on. The cone is placed there to maintain a safe environment for our students and to keep in line with the law. Also, please make every effort to use the parking lot that has been saved for you. The K-5 parents are not allowed in the parking lot and as they are trying to drop off or pick up students they only have the side street or the arrival/drop off zone. The extra cars on the side streets are making it difficult for them to find parking. Remember that stopping/parking on Charlotte Ave is illegal. We truly appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for everyone. In keeping in mind the colder weather, please send in an old sweatshirt for your child to be kept in the classroom. In the unlikely event that we will need to evacuate the building in cold weather, your child will be handed their sweatshirt by their teacher to keep warm outside. Evacuations require an immediate exit of the building and a travel bag of sweatshirts helps aid in a quick evacuation. Your child’s sweatshirt will be returned by the end of the school-year.
Attention all K-5 Parents: Everyone must make a right turn only into the roundabout driveway to drop off or pick up your children. There are no left turns into the driveway allowed. As a reminder the times for the arrival/dismissal zone are: 8:45-9:00 and 2:45-3:05 Remember to drive slowly as you enter and exit the areas around the school as children are not always looking for you. Please help us by making sure your children know if they are going to be picked up by a car in our dismissal zone. This is very important because they need to know which door to exit out. We know that at times circumstances change and a phone call to the school is needed. Please be sure to have all arrangements made before 2:00 each day. Also, remember that stopping/parking on Charlotte Ave. is illegal.
The children of Charlotte Avenue School (CAS) will be (C) confident, creative citizens who (A) achieve academic excellence by being (S) strong, self-motivated students!
